Amazon Managed Grafana clears FedRAMP High in GovCloud
The authorization solves an observability procurement problem, but GovCloud users still inherit a narrower Grafana feature set.

AWS added Amazon Managed Grafana to its FedRAMP High authorized services in AWS GovCloud (US-East) and AWS GovCloud (US-West), giving federal agencies and other FedRAMP High customers a managed path for Grafana dashboards inside GovCloud. That matters because observability tools often sit close to sensitive operational telemetry, logs, and alerting workflows, which makes “just use the commercial-region tool” a non-answer for many federal workloads.
The useful part is straightforward: agencies and public-sector customers can now use Amazon Managed Grafana to visualize, query, and alert on operational metrics across AWS and hybrid environments under the FedRAMP High authorization AWS announced. For contracting and compliance teams, this is one less service to carve out of an architecture or route through a separate authorization argument.
The part AWS does not put in the headline is that GovCloud availability is still not the same thing as commercial-region parity. AWS’s GovCloud documentation says Amazon Managed Grafana in GovCloud does not support Enterprise Plugins, customer managed keys, dual-stack functionality, or CloudFormation, while also stating that no data leaves the GovCloud regions for the service: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/govcloud-us/latest/UserGuide/grafana.html. So the Monday work is not celebrating the badge. It is checking whether your dashboards, identity design, encryption expectations, and deployment automation fit the GovCloud version AWS actually authorized.
